March - Week 1
Last week KA continued to play with 3d shapes, using them to create patterns, masks, towers and castles, counting and naming the shapes, investigating whether they slide, roll and/or stack, and noting the 2d shapes they contain. We are also investigating magnets at our Science Centre.
As it was Dr. Seuss’ birthday on March 2nd, we started exploring his books and other well-known rhymes. We compared the book and cartoon video of The Cat in the Hat, finding lots of similarities and even more differences! Some students made Cat in the Hat hats and on Friday the Purple Group made birthday cupcakes.
As a result of the big snowfall this past week, we were thrilled to finally be able to play in deep snow and on the tall snowbanks outside. After reading the book, Winter Fun, where Turtle and Rabbit have a winter picnic, we planned a KA picnic, making lists of food and other items to take along, then enjoyed our own winter picnic Friday afternoon. We ended the week reading with our Grade 7 and 8 buddies.
